After serving our community for over 90 years, VNS is still driven to fulfill its mission and deliver "Quality community-based and health related services that promote independence, wellness and family integrity ." As a United Way Agency, VNS still serves Central Indiana with traditional home care services but now also provides hospice at the Abbie Hunt Bryce Home, mental health, and other services that address the needs of our community.

Recreation/Leisure Volunteer
Starts: March 1st, 2009
Groups can volunteer together at this opportunity.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
Description
The Abbie Hunt Bryce Home (4760 Pennwood Drive) is not a nursing home, hospice, or medical facility. Rather, it is truly a home - a unique place with a unique mission and volunteers available 24-hours a day.
The home serves persons who are terminally ill, without cost to them or regard to gender, race religion or national origin. The home ministers to individuals who need an available caregiver, who have limited or no financial resources, and are in need of special home care in the final stages of life. A combination of trained caregivers and volunteers provides spiritual, emotional and physical support with the assistance of Hospice providers.
Volunteers are needed to:
- Watch TV or rent movies with residents
- Read to residents, obtain books from library
- Engage residents in art opportunities
- Engage residents in music programs and listening resources
- Take residents on trips to special events, automobile drives in good weather, etc.
The home serves persons who are terminally ill, without cost to them or regard to gender, race religion or national origin. Flu Shot Volunteer

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.
Description
Assisting with non-medical tasks such as line management, handing out clip boards, and answering questions during Flu Shot clinics from September-December. Volunteers receive a FREE flu shot!

Contact Emily Gage, the Volunteer Coordinator, at 317-722-8200 ext. 293 and leave your name, address, phone number. Let her know what part of Marion, Johnson, or Hamilton county you would like to volunteer in. Emily will then send you a list of flu shot clinics in your selected area to choose from.

Administrative Volunteer

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.
Description
Work side by side with our professional staff at the VNS central office. Volunteers assist with a variety of clerical duties including: phone calls, filing, faxing, computer projects, compiling packets and mailings.

GREAT SUMMER OPPORTUNITY FOR STUDENTS NEEDING SERVICE HOURS!
VNS needs a few volunteers to assist with our landscaping from June through September!
Volunteers needed to utilize our lawn mower and some trimming equipment to cut the areas that we own.
