Recreation/Leisure Volunteer
Starts: March 1st, 2009
Groups can volunteer together at this opportunity.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
The home serves persons who are terminally ill, without cost to them or regard to gender, race religion or national origin. The home ministers to individuals who need an available caregiver, who have limited or no financial resources, and are in need of special home care in the final stages of life. A combination of trained caregivers and volunteers provides spiritual, emotional and physical support with the assistance of Hospice providers.
Volunteers are needed to:
- Watch TV or rent movies with residents
- Read to residents, obtain books from library
- Engage residents in art opportunities
- Engage residents in music programs and listening resources
- Take residents on trips to special events, automobile drives in good weather, etc.
- undergo a limited criminal history check
- get a TB test (at no cost to them)
- attend an 8-10 hour orientation, which is broken up over 2 days
Housekeeping Volunteer
Starts: March 1st, 2009
Groups can volunteer together at this opportunity.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
The home serves persons who are terminally ill, without cost to them or regard to gender, race religion or national origin. The home ministers to individuals who need an available caregiver, who have limited or no financial resources, and are in need of special home care in the final stages of life. A combination of trained caregivers and volunteers provides spiritual, emotional and physical support with the assistance of Hospice providers.
Volunteers are needed to:
- Perform “light” housekeeping chores such as dusting, sweeping, mopping, bathroom and smoking lounge clean-up
- Use of Bryce Home washers & dryers to perform laundry for residents and Home
- Manage and inventory clothing closet for residents
Volunteers are required to:
- undergo a limited criminal history check
- get a TB test (at no cost to them)
- attend an 8-10 hour orientation, which is broken up over 2 days
Office/Reception Volunteer
Starts: March 1st, 2009
Groups can volunteer together at this opportunity.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
The home serves persons who are terminally ill, without cost to them or regard to gender, race religion or national origin. The home ministers to individuals who need an available caregiver, who have limited or no financial resources, and are in need of special home care in the final stages of life. A combination of trained caregivers and volunteers provides spiritual, emotional and physical support with the assistance of Hospice providers.
Volunteers are needed for:
- Weekday reception at front desk (doorkeeper and telephone service)
- Assistance in main office as requested with mailings, newsletters, filing
- Act as courier to VNS main office as requested

- attend an 8-10 hour orientation, which is broken up over 2 days
Food Preparation Volunteer
Starts: March 1st, 2009
Groups can volunteer together at this opportunity.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
The home serves persons who are terminally ill, without cost to them or regard to gender, race religion or national origin. The home ministers to individuals who need an available caregiver, who have limited or no financial resources, and are in need of special home care in the final stages of life. A combination of trained caregivers and volunteers provides spiritual, emotional and physical support with the assistance of Hospice providers.
Volunteers will:
- Prepare food as directed by Kitchen Manager
- Assist with serving meals – in dining rooms and bedrooms
- Perform grocery shopping chores
- Organize and inventory pantry items
- Kitchen clean-up - dishes, floors, counters, cupboards, dining tables
Volunteers are required to:
- undergo a limited criminal history check
- get a TB test (at no cost to them)
- attend an 8-10 hour orientation, which is broken up over 2 days
Flu Shot Volunteer
Starts: September 1st, 2009
Ends: December 1st, 2009
Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.
Administrative Volunteer
Starts: March 1st, 2009
Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.
- undergo a limited criminal history check
- get a TB test (at no cost to them)
- attend an 8-10 hour orientation, which is broken up over 2 days

Special Events Volunteer
Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.
Companion Volunteer
Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
The home serves persons who are terminally ill, without cost to them or regard to gender, race religion or national origin. The home ministers to individuals who need an available caregiver, who have limited or no financial resources, and are in need of special home care in the final stages of life. A combination of trained caregivers and volunteers provides spiritual, emotional and physical support with the assistance of Hospice providers.

- Assistance to residents as needed with direction from hospice team
- Private companionship to resident as requested
- Support during the active dying process as requested
- Support to family & friends of resident as requested

Gardening Volunteer
Starts: March 1st, 2009
Groups can volunteer together at this opportunity.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
The home serves persons who are terminally ill, without cost to them or regard to gender, race religion or national origin. The home ministers to individuals who need an available caregiver, who have limited or no financial resources, and are in need of special home care in the final stages of life. A combination of trained caregivers and volunteers provides spiritual, emotional and physical support with the assistance of Hospice providers.
Volunteers are needed for:
- Maintenance of flower beds and porch areas
- Outside maintenance of building and garage areas as requested
- Inclusion of interested residents as possible in flower gardening
Volunteers are required to:

- get a TB test (at no cost to them)
- attend an 8-10 hour orientation, which is broken up over 2 days
Transportation Volunteer
Starts: March 1st, 2009
Groups can volunteer together at this opportunity.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
The home serves persons who are terminally ill, without cost to them or regard to gender, race religion or national origin. The home ministers to individuals who need an available caregiver, who have limited or no financial resources, and are in need of special home care in the final stages of life. - Assist residents during visits to MD’s and other necessary appointments
- Take volunteer on trips to special events, ballgames, concerts, movies, etc.

Special Services Volunteer

Landscaping Volunteer
