Life Management Skills Workshops

Description
Make presentations to trainees on issues like professionalism, support networks, affordable professional dress, credit and legal counseling, time and stress management, parenting skills and more. Tell us your idea and we’ll work with you to make it happen.

Resume Review

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

Description
Review trainee resumes before they are submitted for job openings. Give feedback on strong and weak attributes of the resume.

Program Intern

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

Description
Intern will assist Training, Inc. staff, board members, volunteers and clients in their efforts to promote Training, Inc. to the community at large. The intern will also help key staff members recruit clients, deliver programming & assist with graduate retention activities. This is an unpaid 20 hours/week intern position.
Notes / Special Requirements
College junior, senior or graduate student with relevant work or volunteer experience in social work, education, public services preferred. Previous event experience desired, but not required. Demonstrated organizational and coordination skills a must. Must be creative, detail-oriented and have effective and proven written and oral communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to be a proactive planner and handle multiple tasks is essential. Must be able to effectively blend working independently while also working as a part of a team. Flexibility and resilience is critical. Must have dependable transportation and a valid driver’s license.

Training Assistant

Description
Work directly with trainees in areas like tutoring, counseling and coaching.

Practice Interviews

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

Description
Interview trainees as they begin their job search, and give feedback on performance. You can help them hone their interviewing skills and land the perfect job.

Special Event Intern

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

Description
Intern will assist Training, Inc. staff, board members and volunteers in launching a fundraising luncheon in Spring 2006. The broader goal is to effectively communicate the Training, Inc. story and our accomplishments to the larger community. This is an unpaid 20 hours/week intern position.

College junior, senior or graduate student with relevant work or volunteer experience in marketing, social work, or journalism/communications preferred. Previous event experience in coordinating an event is desired, but not required. Demonstrated organizational and coordination skills a must. Clothing Donations

Description
Donate professional clothing for the Clothes Closet to help trainees build a professional wardrobe that will carry them through their first days and weeks on the job.
Notes / Special Requirements
We are always in need of plus size clothing for men and women. Training, Inc. works in coordination with Dress for Success when trainees are preparing for job interviews.

Advisory Groups

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

Description
Serve on one or more committees. Choices are Resource Development, Employer Development, Marketing and PC Technician.

Business Ethics Panel

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

Description
Talk with trainees in a small setting about what the business community expects. Help them to understand issues like attendance and punctuality, positive work attitude, professional dress and behavior, taking initiative and responsibility on the job, good human relations, communication, etc.
