The mission of Teachers' Treasures is to serve the educational and creative needs of children in the greater Indianapolis area by providing a unique means to transfer donated merchandise from businesses and individuals to teachers for use in their classrooms and school.

Warehouse/clerical

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

Description
Sorting, shelving, check outs and quality control. We accept drop in volunteers willing to work a minimum three hour shift.
Notes / Special Requirements
You must have your own transportation. This is warehouse work so being able to lift and wearing old clothes are important.

Technology Tester

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 14 years old.

Description
Do you love using technology and electronics? Teachers’ Treasures often gets donations of used computer equipment and other electronics that need to be tested before they are stocked on the shelves to ensure they work properly. If you have the know-how, you can even fix items that are not operating correctly. A general knowledge of the operation computers is essential for the Technology Tester position. Hours are 9AM-noon or 2:30PM-5:30PM, Monday through Thursday at our Free Store at 1800 E. 10th Street. Technology testers are welcomed for a one-time opportunity or for regular work. This position reports to the Volunteer Manager.

Stock Clerk

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 14 years old.

Description
Teachers’ Treasures is looking for Store Clerks to help take donations, sort product, re-bundle bulk items, stock and straighten shelves, create displays, and perform general housekeeping duties. Hours are 9AM-noon, Monday through Thursday at our Free Store at 1800 E. 10th Street. This position reports to the Volunteer Manager.

Store Assistants

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 14 years old.

Description
Teachers’ Treasures is looking for Store Assistants to help teachers when shopping at the Free Store. Duties include answering questions, explaining shopping procedures and requirements, and assisting them in completing check-in and check-out forms. Hours are 2:30PM-6:00PM, Monday through Thursday at our Free Store at 1800 E. 10th Street. This position reports to the Volunteer Manager.

Donation Pick-Up Driver

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

Description
Do you like driving around Indy and seeing new places? Teachers’ Treasures is in need of individuals willing to pick up donated items from various locations around town and deliver them to our Free Store located at 1800 E. 10th Street. Hours will be arranged by the Volunteer Manager to fit the schedules of both the donating organization and the Donation Pick-Up Driver.
Notes / Special Requirements

Must be able to provide own transportation and lift at least 60 lbs. This position reports to the Volunteer Manager.

Artist

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 14 years old.

Description
Do you have a creative side that you rarely get to use at work? Or maybe you’re a professional artist who is looking to use your skills to help others? Teachers’ Treasures is looking for an artist to paint a mural or design in the volunteer work room to brighten the environment. Design can either be created by you or suggested by us, it’s up to you! Ideal hours fall between Monday through Friday, 9AM-6PM, but are flexible depending on your schedule.

Office Assistant

Description
Teachers’ Treasures is looking for a gem to help the office staff with various projects including data entry, making copies, filing, and assisting with mailings. Office Assistants should have general knowledge of how an office operates. Previous office experience a plus, but not required. Training will be provided. Hours are 9AM-noon or 2:30PM-5:30PM, Monday through Thursday at our Free Store at 1800 E. 10th Street. This position reports to the Volunteer Manager.

Special Events Assistant

Description
Would you like to be an advocate for Teachers’ Treasures? Do you love meeting new people and making new friends? We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to be Special Events Assistants. Duties include staffing tables with the help of the Volunteer Manager at local fairs and festivals (Marion County Fair, volunteer fairs, etc.) and educating the public about the mission of Teachers’ Treasures. Special Events Assistants must have a solid knowledge base of Teachers’ Treasures, but don’t worry—we will teach you everything you need to know! Location and hours will vary depending on the schedule of the hosting organization; however, some evening hours are available. This position reports to the Volunteer Manager.

Have some extra energy to burn off? Teachers’ Treasures is looking for Warehouse Assistants. Duties include sorting though skids and helping staff organize the warehouse. Previous warehouse experience desired, but not required. Must be able to lift 60 lbs. Hours are 9AM-noon or 2:30PM-5:30PM, Monday through Thursday at our Free Store at 1800 E. 10th Street. This position reports to the warehouse staff.

Back to School Volunteers Needed!

Starts: August 4th, 2009

Groups can volunteer together at this opportunity.

Volunteers must be at least 14 years old.

Description
We really need some volunteers for Aug.4-7 (Monday-Thursday) from 2-6 in the afternoons. The store opens back up to regular teachers and we're expecting about 100 teachers per day (eek!) We really need help keeping the shelves stocked, checking teachers in/out (this will be the biggest aspect of the volunteer position), and help taking items to the teachers' cars.

We still have our incentive program where volunteers can earn additional shopping trips for teachers they know for every 3 hours they volunteer.
