Founded in 1950, the mission of Prevent Blindness Indiana is to preserve "Sight for Life" to Indiana residents through vision screenings, follow-up care, education, public awareness and research. PBI is one of 19 affiliates of Prevent Blindness America.
Below are some opportunities for you to get involved with this great organization. But don't limit yourself to just these! If you're excited about their mission, give them a call to see what other needs you may be able to fill. Thanks for serving and have fun making a difference!
Groups can volunteer together at this opportunity.
Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.
Description
Vision screening at schools, health fairs and other events helps identify individuals in our community (both children and adults) with potential vision impairments or eye diseases. Early detection and treatment can help keep them on the path to success and avoid unnecessary vision loss.
Notes / Special Requirements
Vision screeners must be trained and certified by PBI. Training dates are posted online or may be scheduled at your organization. Certification for children is 2 hours; adults in 1.5 hours.
