PACE/OAR

PACE/OAR provides a variety of services to help offenders, ex-offenders, and their families to lead productive and responsible lives in their community. We will promote an active concern in all areas of criminal justice, which includes penal reform, correctional policies and services to offenders and ex-offenders inside and outside of Indiana correctional institutions.

Client Mentoring

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

Description
PACE/OAR is currently planning a client mentoring program that is not active on a large scale at this time. However, individuals wanting to serve as mentors can meet with the Deputy Director to discuss one-on-one opportunities for volunteers. These opportunities include assisting clients with developing resumes or conducting on-line job searches and applications in the resource center. As a non-profit organization, PACE/OAR is always looking for committed volunteers to help advance the mission of the agency. Volunteers with a specific skill or service are encouraged to share this service with the agency or the clients.

Do you have an idea of a gift or talent you can share with us? Please let us know.

Special Events

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Groups can volunteer together at this opportunity.

Volunteers must be at least 14 years old.

Description
In September 2007, the PACE/OAR Board of Directors established the Special Events Committee as an ad hoc committee of the Board to oversee and plan special events such as the annual fund raiser, Food Fight, and other smaller events like the yard sale. These committee meetings are help on an as-needed basis throughout the year. These events help raise unrestricted funds for client-services to the agency can pay for things like bus tickets, birth certificates, driver’s license and other barriers to employment for our clients. As a volunteer, you can be a member of the special events committee, or hold your own special event and donate a portion of the proceeds to the client services program at PACE/OAR

Speakers Bureau

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Groups can volunteer together at this opportunity.

Volunteers must be at least 14 years old.

Description
PACE/OAR serves more than 1200 ex-offenders each year with a very small, dedicated staff of less than 10 full-time employees. By utilizing student interns, practicum students and work study students we seek to customize a transition plan for each client. Unfortunately, a small staff leaves little time to educate the community about our services or the barriers facing ex-offenders trying to get their lives back on a positive track.

As a member of the PACE/OAR Speakers Bureau, we will arm you with the information necessary to educate others about our cause, and the important role our services play in keeping the overall community safer. You can take our information to your own faith/civic group, recruit new audiences or present to groups that reach out to us first. Public education events can take the form of a lecture.

If public speaking is not your gift, volunteers are also need to help fid audiences and schedule these speaking engagements.
