Health Fair

Description
The National Kidney Foundation of Indiana participates in many health fairs throughout Indiana. The goal is to promote early intervention and prevention of kidney disease, and awareness of organ donation. These fairs are part of events held by churches, businessess, schools, and community groups. Some fairs are held for a specific population group such as Hispanics, African Americans, or American Indians. We need both health professionals and non-health professional volunteers who represent all population groups. Volunteers may pass out brochures and talk to health fair visitors about kidney disease, organ donation and the NKFI. Also, at some of the fairs we perform blood pressure checks using an automatic inflatable cuff and machine that displays blood pressure results. We can provide training at our office on the brochures and how to perform and interpret the blood pressure checks.
Notes / Special Requirements
Volunteers need to be organized, attentive to detail, friendly, helpful and professional in manner and appearance. Knowledge of kidney/urinary diseases, organ donation and how to measure blood pressure are helpful, but not required. We can provide training for each of these areas.
