Marquette Manor

Marquette Manor is a continuing care retirement community designed to provide a full range of living choices for people aged 62 years and older. Our goal is to meet the changing needs of our residents and provide a quality lifestyle throughout their retirement years. There is much to learn from the elderly and assisting them in various events and/or activities provides a volunteer with an enriching experience.

Bingo Buddy

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 14 years old.

Description
Provide support and assistance to staff and/or residents. Help set up game, recruit residents, call and distibute prizes. Bingo is played on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays in assisted living; Monday - Friday in the health care center. Come weekly or monthly or anything inbetween.
Notes / Special Requirements
Must enjoy playing games; loud and clear voice; Cheerful and Outgoing.

Community Courier

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 14 years old.

Description
These volunteers work in Manor mailroom, check in packages, contact residents, deliver packages

Craft Instructor

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 15 years old.

Description
work with residents in a group or one-on-one assisting or instructing of the activities.
Notes / Special Requirements
Craft-minded, patient and outgoing. Comfortable working w/elderly who may have physical and/or mental limitations

Dining Room Aide

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 14 years old.

Description
Help staff @ mealtimes by assisting residents to their tables, pur beverages and cut food.

Entertainer

Groups can volunteer together at this opportunity.

Description
Using your personal gifts, provide entertainment for residents, solo or in groups.

Outing Friend

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 15 years old.

Description
Assist staff on community outings. Accompany residents to restaurants, malls, museums, etc.

Physically fit able to assist w/ wheel chairs and walkers and must be patient.

Visitor

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 14 years old.

Description
Be a companion to one or more residents. Do one-on-one visitation in rooms.
Notes / Special Requirements
A Cheerful, compassionate nature and a willingness to share. Able to converse freely.

Pet Pal

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 15 years old.

Description
Bring in a pet and visit residents room to room.
Notes / Special Requirements
healthy animal with up to date shot records, able in being comfortable conversing with adults, pet is comfortable being petted by many different people. Animal must be clean and groomed.

Sunday Hostess

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 15 years old.

Description
Assist in Assisted Living setting up, recruiting and serving beverages for afternoon entertainment
Notes / Special Requirements
Comfortable with elderly people. Able to push wheelchairs. Outgoing and friendly.

News Group Leader

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

Description
Share highlights from the day's newpaper. Help engage residents in conversation. Work crossword puzzel with residents.
Notes / Special Requirements
Able to read and converse with elderly folks. Must be outgoing and patient.

Bulletin Boards & Shadow Boxes Decorator

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 15 years old.

Description
Decorate bulletin boards in the rooms of residents; decorate hall shadow boxes. All material supplied by the Activity Department. Weekly or once a month. Time can be according to the volunteer's schedule.
Notes / Special Requirements
Volunteer should be crafty, imaginative, and enjoy working with art supplies.

Bridge Assistant

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

Description
Sit with a Bridge group and assist with play. Help recruit residents for the game. Friday mornings 9:30-11:30 a.m. or other times if interested.
Notes / Special Requirements
Volunteer must be able to play Bridge, and be patient and outgoing.

Campus Companion

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

Description
Escort residents outside. This could include walks around the pond, sitting in the courtyard or strolling around the campus. If the weather prohibits going outside, the strolling can be done inside the building. Flexible in days and times.

Activity Aide

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 14 years old.

Description
Assist the activity professional. Jobs will differ per day. Performing a variety of jobs with the activity staff involving residents.

Outgoing, confident, patient, friendly, flexible and adaptable. Able to push wheelchairs.

Community Courier

Starts: November 16th, 2009

Ends: December 30th, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

Description
During the holiday seasons, work in the Manor mailroom, checking in packages, calling residents and, if at home, delivering the packages. Fill out package notification slips and place in mailboxes
