
Kaleidoscope Youth Center
Our mission is to sustain a church and community partnership which provides a neighborhood-supported safe place for youth. Kaleidoscope offers hope and guidance through enrichment programs, conflict resolution, educational support, and recreational activities. Our goal is to encourage self-discipline, self esteem, and community spirit.

Facilitator ~ Financial Literacy Program
Starts: March 1st, 2009
Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.
Tasks and responsibilities include:
# Attending workshops on facilitating the financial program.
# Requesting materials necessary for program implementation.
# Communication with parents of student participants.
# Organization and scheduling of an end-of-program celebration night.
# Special event planning and field experience organization.
# General Program Organization and Administration.
# Recruitment of additional college student facilitators.
# Acquisition of WIFI enabled computers for student research.

GENERAL VOLUNTEER
Starts: March 1st, 2009
Groups can volunteer together at this opportunity.
Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.
DUTIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
* Consistently and punctually report to selected shift
* Attend brief orientation session
* Data Entry
* Working with youth who visit the center daily
* Pick-up and drop-off of students on field trip and other outside of center experiences.
* Communicate regularly with assigned supervisor as to concerns, issues, or ideas arising from work at the center. Ask questions-do not be afraid, we need your assistance
* Answer telephones and direct calls (if appointed)
* Assist in keeping Kaleidoscope Center neat and tidy
* Dress Comfortably
* Uphold Kaleidoscope Center rules and policies regarding work with youth.
* Assist with group programming (if appointed)
* Create and lead innovative and creative youth programming based on individual talents and skills (if interested)
COMMITMENT REQUIRED: A minimum commitment of two to four hours per visit is suggested. Volunteer opportunities will be available Monday - Friday; 3:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. There are may be Saturday opportunities for this position.
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED:
* Must be age 16 or older
* Basic computer skills and/or good handwriting helpful
* Flexible to changing situation
* Reliable, responsible
* Able to work independently as well as in a group environment
* Able to accept supervision
* Ability to perform repetitive tasks and detail oriented
* Good organizational skills
TRAINING/ORIENTATION PROVIDED: Since the duties performed by the Kaleidoscope Youth Center Volunteers are varied, training and work assignments are determined by an individual’s schedule and level of expertise to accomplish a task. Training is provided Kaleidoscope Center staff.

WEBMASTER
Starts: March 1st, 2009
Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.
