Garfield Arts Center Greeter

Description
Calling all art enthusiasts!! The Garfield Arts Center is looking for volunteers to be greeters at this new facility. Greeters will volunteer 2-3 days a week from 1:00 pm to 6:00pm. Duties will included: manning the front entrance to greet guests, answer any questions and hand out information concerning the exhibits and programs, ensure that all guests sign in, and do minor clerical work. School Outreach Program Assistant

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 14 years old.

Description
One School Outreach Office Assistant is needed at each IPS school site. The Assistant will be performing administrative responsibilities, assisting the staff with tutoring students, passing out snacks, leading games or arts-n-crafts, and performing light clean-up duties. The Assistant will be volunteering Monday -Thursdays,(or as many days their schedule will allow).

School Outreach Office Assistant

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 14 years old.

Description
One to two volunteers are needed to assist the School Outreach Coordinator with every day clerical assistance. Duties will include but not limited to: filing, preparing materials to pass out to the Program Assistants, craft preparation, copying, organizing paperwork/materials, and some phone work. This volunteer would work at least 3 hours a day between the hours of 9:00am-4:00pm Monday through Friday.

Description
Indy Parks and Recreation offers volunteer opportunities to people of all ages: from the young of age to the young of heart. There are a wide array of volunteer activities from volunteering at the Garfield Arts Center performing duties such as greeting people at a concert/event to being outdoors and working with your hands planting trees and mulching. Depending on your volunteer taste Indy Parks and Recreation can meet most volunteer interests.

Community Lab Coordinators at Rhodius Park

Description
Do you enjoy working with people and are computer savy? Then think about volunteering for this position. Indy Parks and Recreation is in partnership with the Indianapolis Private Industry Council to have WorkOne Community Learning Labs in park family centers. This position is at Rhodius Park and will assist with the operation of the lab to ensure that WorkOne customer's needs are being met. Volunteers are needed Monday-Friday from 1:00 pm- 6:00 pm ( there may be Saturday hours available too). Here are some of the duties: provide assistance to WorkOne customers with these computer programs: Word, Excel, e-mail, the Internet, Key Train, and Win Way software. conduct quarterly evaluations, collect referral cards from the customers, ensure the security of the room, and maintain the cleanliness of the room. Interested volunteers should have a knowledge of working with lap top computers and of Word and its' amenities. Volunteers will be trained on how to use Key Train and Win Way software. Holliday Park Nature Center Office Volunteer

Description
If you enjoy volunteering in a peaceful, serene environment then the position of Nature Center Office Volunteer is the one for you! There are two shifts to choose from: morning from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm and afternoons from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The volunteer days will be Monday, Tuesday, Fridays, and the 2nd & 4th Sundays (Sundays are only in the pm). You can choose to volunteer weekly or twice a month. Office Assistants will assist the Center by answering phones, helping visitors with questions, and working with staff on special projects. Horticutural Assistant(s)-Garfield Park Conservatory

Description
The Horticultural Assistant(s) will volunteer a two to four hour shift between the hours of 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Dressing casual for this position is not a problem since the activities requires the pruning, watering,dead-heading, weeding and repotting of plants. Educational Program Assistant-Garfield Park Conservatory

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

Description
The Educational Program Assistant will work with Conservatory staff to set-up for the program, provide program instruction,and clean-up afterwards. The programs are for youth from age 3 up to age 12. Volunteers are needed on an on-call basis two to three times per month. The programs are held between the hours of 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Garfield Park Conservatory Greeter

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 14 years old.

Description
Volunteers with smiling, cheery faces will welcome visitors to the Conservatory. Volunteers in this position will work at the front desk within the Conservatory to assist visitors with questions, help them with purchases, accept donations, and perform simple office-related tasks: fold brochures, water plants, clean desk, and wash doors/windows. Volunteer will work one shift per week. The volunteer days are Monday from 12:00pm-5:00 pm, Wednesdays from 1:00 pm- 5:00 pm, and Thursdays from 10:00 - 1:00 pm. After School Computer Lab Monitor-Municipal Gardens Park

Inclusion Support Volunteer - Therapeutic Recreation Program

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 14 years old.

Description
This volunteer position can very rewarding for volunteers who want to work with children and/or adults with disabilities. Volunteers interested in this postion will work 2 to 3 hours at a time with an adult or youth in a sports program: swimming, basketball, softball; or assisting with their exercise program in a weight room. Volunteers will be needed during the week and some weekends. You will provide a positive experience for the adult/youth participating as an Inclusion Support Volunteer. Volunteers should be high school age and up.
