Indy Jazz Fest

The 2009 Indy Jazz Fest presented by Marsh is recruiting approximately 200 enthusiastic, happy, responsible, friendly and community-oriented volunteers to staff the 11th annual festival, September 19-27, 2009. We will need volunteers to work as a street team the weeks prior to the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, Sept., 26-27th, but will also need many volunteers the week of the festival!

This years line up will include: Latin percussionist Poncho Sanchez, Tribute to Indianapolis native, Freddie Hubbard, presented by Dr. David Baker, featuring Randy Brecker, Nicholas Payton, James Spaulding and more, New Orleans and Grammy-winning legend Branford Marsalis, guitar whiz Charlie Hunter, Downbeat Magazines #1 male jazz vocalist Kurt Elling, groove organ trio Soulive, killer bassist Marcus Miller, and many more! ENVIRONMENTAL DETAIL

Starts: June 14th, 2009

Groups can volunteer together at this opportunity.

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

Description
Volunteers will help keep the park clean by monitoring all trash disposal containers. When containers are full, volunteers will empty the trash into a large dumpster and redistribute the containers around the park.

To reserve volunteer shifts, ELI participants must contact Kim Lewis at kim@americanpianists.org by April 8th.
Notes / Special Requirements

* Each volunteer must commit to either a full shift at a particular station. (See following pages for volunteer descriptions & shifts).

* ELI participants are being given the opportunity to sign up as a volunteer before the shifts are open to the general public. In order to be considered, participants must contact the festival staff by Tuesday, April 8th.

* All volunteers MUST attend one of two training sessions held at the beginning of June (date TBD). The training sessions last 1 ½ - 2 hours and are held in the evening.

* Each volunteer will receive:
o One ticket to the festival per shift
o An Indy Jazz Fest volunteer t-shirt
o One meal per shift (to be eaten before or after their scheduled shift time)

SET UP

Starts: June 13th, 2009

Groups can volunteer together at this opportunity.

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

Description
Volunteers will assist the operations committee and APA staff in setting up for the festival. Some duties may include erecting and placing tables and chairs, hanging signage, placing linens on tables in the corporate hospitality areas, setting up the artist trailer and other duties.

To reserve volunteer shifts, ELI participants must contact Kim Lewis at kim@americanpianists.org by April 8th.

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

Volunteers will assist the operations committee and APA staff in tearing down the festival. Some duties may include taking down and stacking tables and chairs, taking down signage, cleaning out the artist trailer and other duties.
