The Indianapolis Museum of Art is among the largest and oldest general art museums in the United States. Visitor Information Services

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

Description
Visitor Information Services volunteers, both in the Museum and at Lilly House offer a friendly and enthusiastic gretting to visitors. They provide information, give directions, answer general questions about the Museum collections and special exhibitions and convey news of daily activities, services and programs.

Special Events

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

Description
Work with the Museum's Event Staff during events such as exhibition openigns, fairs, festivals, and corporate reseptions. Provide a warm smile and welcoming greeting for people attending events at the IMA, give directions, answer questions, and above all, make IMA guests feel welcome.

The IMA Store

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

Description
Opportunities in The IMA Store cover all areas of retail sales and merchandising.Duties include assisting customers, display work, stocking shelves, pricing merchandise, and gift wrapping

Gardens and Grounds

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

Description
Staff and seasonal horticulture volunteers maintain the Museum's 52 acres of gardens and grounds. Assist in garden maintenance including: weeding, edging, mulching, deadheading, planting, pruning, watering, leaf and debris removal. Master Gardener participants are welcome.

Madeline Elder Greenhouse

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

Description
IMA Greenhouse volunteers fall into two categories. Grooming, propagating and other general plant care are done by the Greenhouse volunteers, while Greenhouse Shop volunteers assist customers with gift and plant purchases.

Better Than New Shop

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

Description
Volunteers at the Better Than New Shop sort, price, display, and sell a variety of fine donated household items, furniture, and clothing. All proceeds from the shop go directly to two fine arts funds supporting the museum.

Library

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

Description
Learn about IMA resources by helping people who visit the two Museum libraries find reference materials. Answer telephone inquires, file materials and enter database information.
Notes / Special Requirements
Library experience is helpful.

Lilly House Floral Arrangers

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

Description
The rich tradition of keeping fresh floral arrangements in Oldfields-Lilly House has a recently been revived. Volunters work in the cutting gardens tending plants and cutting the flowers and/or as arrangers.

Visitor Orientation Tour Volunteer

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

Description
We are going to offer a Visitor Orientation Tour to first time visitors, new members, new staff and volunteers to introduce them to the many amenities the museum offers. Volunteers will conduct two 15 minute tours within a 1 to 1.5 shift. The tours will be offered on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 12:00 noon and 12:30 pm and on Thursday evenings at 6:00 pm and 6:30 pm. Small group training sessions are available.
