Special Events

Groups can volunteer together at this opportunity.
Volunteers must be at least 14 years old.
Description
Volunteer(s) assist the museum staff during special events held at the museum. Duties can range from working at a registration table, to hosting activities that are a part of the event. Flexibility is the key! many of these events are in the evening and are a great way for people with 9-5 schedules to get involved at the museum.

Naturalist Lab Host
Starts: March 1st, 2009
Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.
Description
The primary duties of the volunteer are to enhance the visitor's experience in the lab with the presentation of a natural science activity, craft or demonstration; assist visitors with interactive activities; interpret objects and specimens with the exhibit.
Notes / Special Requirements
Volunteer(s) go through a training program about the Naturalist Lab and the components of the exhibit. Trainings are held regularly throughout the year.

Discovery Cart Host
Starts: March 1st, 2009
Volunteers must be at least 14 years old.
Description
The Primary duties of this volunteer are to enhance the visitor's experience in the gallery with a demonstration, activity, craft or game related to the subject of that particular gallery, and to promote discussion related to exhibit components or topics.
Notes / Special Requirements
Volunteer(s) must be trained on the specific cart that they will be working. Trainings are offered throughout the year for each of the carts.

Information Center

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
Description
Volunteer(s) will work in the Information Center on the first floor of the museum. This position spends the majority of the time interacting with the public: answering questions about the museum and the Indianapolis area.
Notes / Special Requirements
Orientation and training for the Information Center are required. Trainings are held throughout the year.
