Horizon House is a welcoming place where homeless neighbors find the resources and support they need to end their homelessness. We are a one-stop day center that offers hospitality, employment assistance, rest rooms, showers, basic hygiene and survival supplies, civil legal counsel, housing placement and retention, mental health and substance abuse counseling, food, professional case management, mail delivery, transportation, storage, telephone, medical care, street outreach/mentoring, Veteran's services, family room and service.

Guest Service Assistant

Description
Horizon House is in need of volunteers to assist our front desk staff with checking in our homeless neighbors. The front desk staff handles scheduled times for showers, mail, phone calls, meals etc. There is always a need for more people to do such tasks on Fridays.

Donation Center Extreme Makeover

Description
Do words like organize, clean, setup, arrange and sort get your energy flowing? If so, Horizon House needs YOU. Each day Horizon House receives donations such as clothing and shoes. Whether the items are needed for regular wear or a business interview, we want to make sure everything is readily accessible for our homeless neighbors. Come in once a week, month, or whenever your schedule allows, and help us organize our donation center to better serve our homeless neighbors. This is a great opportunity to volunteer and spend some quality time with your best friend, partner, or family members while also helping out in the community. Bring your favorite CD or tape, and let the good times roll!

Serve A Meal

Description
Every evening Horizon House provides dinner to our homeless neighbors. Currently we are looking for a group of two or three people who would like to come in and manage one meal per month. The food is already provided, and is simply in need of some creative preparation and willing hands to serve it! If you are part of a group of individuals who care to dedicate one day a month to helping the homeless in Indianapolis, please give us a call! We are looking for groups to manage Sunday morning breakfast and evening meals on Tuesday and Thursday. Breakfast hours are usually from 8:45 a.m.-10:30 a.m. and dinner hours run from 5:45 p.m. -7:00 p.m.

Clerical Assistance

Description
At Horizon House, we serve over 200 homeless neighbors on a daily basis. Between intake interviews, case management notes, required documentation and the like...we process a lot of paperwork! In an effort to give our case managers and other support staff as much time for client interaction as possible; Horizon House is in need of a volunteer to help out with light clerical work. This work might involve filing, data entry and even chart auditing. Basically, we want to keep our support staff from worrying about their filing cabinet and keep them concentrated on the needs of their clients! We are open 7-days a week with hours extending to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and are willing to accommodate any schedule. Whether you are looking to volunteer twice a week or once a month, we are happy to work with you.

Scrap booking, stamping & Card Creation Extravagant!

Description
Do you enjoy scrap booking or creating homemade cards? If so, Horizon House could use your help! Horizon House is a nonprofit, charitable organization. We are a multi-service day center that provides solutions to help homeless neighbors move toward stable living and permanent housing. We need a variety of stationary that can be used to correspond with other community members that we work with. If you enjoy making postcards, seasonal cards, holiday cards, or even blank cards then we could use your help. This volunteer opportunity is perfect for groups and families. It can be done at home or at Horizon House. (This project does require that you have your own supplies.)

Recycling Extraordinaire

Description
Are you passionate about the environment, if so Horizon House can use you!

Horizon House is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to serving the homeless neighbors in Indianapolis. Although ending homelessness is our primary mission, recycling is something our facility would truly like to practice. We are looking for a volunteer who could pick up our recyclable paper, plastic, and/or cardboard and drop them off to a recycling center. We will supply you with directions if needed.
