Gateway Services has been providing quality family and person centered services since 1963. Gateway believes in developing programs offering full community participation and opportunities. These programs are divided into three main areas: Children Services which include summer camp, respite services, and a transition after school program; Adult Services including job placement, community support services, community work crews, and Aktion Club activities; and Access Johnson County-public transportation for all of Johnson County. Gateway Services will continue to provide services to all individuals with the belief that people come first!

Transition After School Aides

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

Description
The transition after school program will begin on Sept. 14, 2009 and continue through Dec. 16, 2009. This is an enriching program that will focus on preparing transition students with disabilities for life after high school. These students will be learning vocational skills, social/soft skills, adult daily living skills, and will be volunteering in the community. Aides will be working directly with these students to help them with volunteering, money management, homework, and other activities in the program. This is a great opportunity to help your peers and have a good time!
Notes / Special Requirements
Volunteers working directly with clients may require: State Nurse Aid Registry, County Limited Criminal History Check, State Limited Criminal History Check, Drug screening (all of which Gateway Services would be more than willing to help you obtain and all costs will be covered)
