The GAIA Movement, USA, is a not for profit organization based in Chicago. It raises funds for environmental projects - Gaia projects. It raises the funds by collecting and selling used clothes. The clothes collection in Chicago is The GAIA Movement, USA's first environmental project. Collecting used clothes is a sound environmental way in which to economize with the resources and to save space at the landfill. The organization has expanded to Indianapolis and is growing out to other surrounding cities/towns. The Gaia-Movement began clothes collection in Indianapolis in 2006. There are 117 boxes in the area.

Site Finding

Groups can volunteer together at this opportunity.

Volunteers must be at least 14 years old.

Description
There are many people in Indianapolis who do not recycle their clothes because they do not have a convenient way of doing so. The Gaia-Movement needs help finding new locations to place the boxes. Boxes are placed at businesses, schools, and churches. Volunteers will earn $50 for each site found. We also need help placing and emptying the boxes.

Clothes Recycling Promotion

Description
Because the Gaia-Movement is so new in Indianapolis many people do not know about the organization or the clothes collection bins. We are looking for volunteers to help talk with newspapers and hand out flyers to local residents. This will make people more aware of the importance of recycling clothes and keep those clothes out of the landfill.
