Children's Program Assistant

Description
This volunteer will assist the Children's Program Director with weekly workshops held for children ages 8-17. Duties include accompanying the Director in transporting the children to/from the workshops, assisting with art projects, reading to the children, facilitating workshops, and assisting in the marketing and development of curriculum. The workshops will focus on character building, community involvement, self-esteem, and making new friends! The workshops are held on Saturdays from 10:00am to noon at the Fresh Start office. Volunteers need to be available from 9:00am - 1:00pm. Days are flexible.....Work one Saturday a month, or every Saturday!
Notes / Special Requirements
Must be reliable, enthusiastic, patient and caring.
Must be 16 years or older.
Prior experience working with children is helpful, but not required.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check (fees will be reimbursed to the volunteer).

9th Annual Breakfast with Santa

Description
Volunteers are needed for Fresh Start of Indiana's 9th Annual Breakfast with Santa on December 13, 2008 from 8:30 am to 11:00 am. The event will be held at St. Luke's United Methodist Church at 100 W. 86th Street in Indianapolis. Volunteers are needed the day of the breakfast and the night before for setup. Teen Reports and Writers

Description
We are in immediate need of teen volunteers to write articles, stories, poems, interview other teens, etc. for our monthly Teen Time Newsletter. We are especially interested in teens that have witnessed domestic abuse in their families or in their lives, or have experienced other problems (alcohol/drug addictions, teen pregnancy, dysfunctional family issues, teen coping problems, etc.) that can relate and possibly give inspiration, advice and hope to other teens going through the same problems.
Notes / Special Requirements
Must enjoy writing assignments, have "decent" grammar/spelling skills, must be able to meet monthly deadlines, must have access to a computer/internet to email articles/stories and be able to receive emails from the newsletter group/editor.
