Face (low-cost spay/neuter clinic)

Thousands of cats, dogs, kittens and puppies are killed in Indianapolis shelters every year, while only a fraction are adopted. Uncounted thousands more suffer and die on the streets each year. There are simply too many animals and not enough homes. Cities across the country have proven that low-cost spay/neuter clinics are the most effective means of eliminating pet overpopulation. FACE therefore established a high-volume, low-cost spay/neuter clinic in Indianapolis. FACE's clinic is dramatically reducing pet overpopulation and the misery and death that comes with it for thousands of animals in the Indianapolis area. Additionally, fewer animals being born means it's easier to find homes for existing animals.
opportunities

Below are some opportunities for you to get involved with this great organization. But don't limit yourself to just these! If you're excited about their mission, give them a call to see what other needs you may be able to fill. Thanks for serving and have fun making a difference!

Volunteer for Special Events

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

Description
FACE occasionally needs help planning and staffing special events. This could involve making phone calls, helping with set-up, answering questions at public events and clean-up. Adoption events held off-site at area pet stores generally involve transporting animals and staffing an information table for a few hours.
Notes / Special Requirements

Face requires a 20-hour commitment from all volunteers.

Socialize Cats

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

Description
FACE is home to a large number of abandoned cats and a small number of dogs. Cat-lovers are encouraged to visit FACE’s cat room and help socialize the cats. Light cleaning is also a big help to staff. Volunteers who work for FACE at least a month might have the opportunity to participate in supervised dog-walking, but it is not guaranteed.
Notes / Special Requirements

Face requires a 20-hour commitment from all volunteers.

Office assistance/prep tags

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

Description
FACE administers vaccines to a large number of animals throughout the week, and with each rabies vaccination, the clinic distributes a tag. The packaged tags are assembled by volunteers, as are many FACE mailings and the plastic Elizabethan collars that prevent dogs from biting their surgical incisions. Your help with these small tasks – many of which can be performed while visiting the FACE cat room – is greatly appreciated.
