Description
A One-on-One volunteer establishes a unique relationship with a DAMAR client who has little or no other contact with family members.
Notes / Special Requirements
One-on-One volunteers are asked to commit to no less than one year of service and are expected to visit their one-on-one at least every other week and communicate weekly with their one-on-one. One-on-One volunteers must be at least 21 years of age. Becoming a one-on-one volunteer requires the greatest investment of time (10+ hours), but can provide some of the greatest rewards for both the volunteer and the client alike. Helping advocate for clients and promoting positive social interactions is where One-on-One volunteers can provide the most beneficial support.

Scrapbooking Volunteer

Description
A Scrapbooking Volunteer assists clients in exploring their creative side by helping the children at DAMAR to create pages for their scrap books. Scrap booking is held once a month for an hour and scrap book volunteers must arrive half an hour before the scheduled start time for the evening. These volunteers are only required to give their time; not scrapbooking materials, which DAMAR provides. Volunteer participation helps guarantee that scrapbooking is fun and enjoyable for all clients who attend this activity.

Educational Surrogate Volunteer

Description
An Educational Surrogate Volunteer represents the best educational interests of DAMAR clients who have little or no contact with family members. Educational Surrogate Volunteers are expected to attend or participate via phone in educational conferences regarding your student and advocate for the student student’s academic interests.
Notes / Special Requirements
All Educational Surrogate Volunteers must complete the Educational Surrogate in-service offered by the local school system and be at least 21 years of age.

Unit Volunteer

Description
An alternative to becoming a One-on-One Volunteer, the Unit Volunteer assists with the operation of the unit and establishes a unique relationship with the unit clients who need some one-on-one attention. Unit Volunteers are expected to visit the unit at least every other week and help to promote positive social interactions.

Volunteer Classroom Assistant

Description
The Volunteer Classroom Assistant will assist with the operation of the classroom either by working one-on-one with a student or assisting with projects given by the teacher. Volunteer Classroom Assistants work directly with children aged 6-21 in the DAMAR Academy and assist students with academic work as well as maintaining a clean, healthy, safe classroom environment.

Description
A Special Event Volunteer provides manual and guest service support before, during and after short-term events, programs and special occasions hosted by DAMAR. Special event volunteering is an ideal opportunity for individuals who are interested in supporting DAMAR’s mission, but who have limited time available. Most events are held once annually and take place in the evenings and on weekends.

Interested individuals should be outgoing, friendly and enjoy working with people. Special Event Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age.

Marketing Assistant Internship

The Marketing Assistant supports the marketing communication department at DAMAR to build and maintain the positive image and understanding of DAMAR. The primary focus of this position is on internal communications, such as flyers, posters, signage, banners, newsletters, photography, website and other special projects. This is a volunteer internship position.

DAMAR is excited to provide unique opportunities for group volunteers to come and coordinate a special activity with the children at DAMAR. These activities range from organized recreational games to arts and crafts.
