Brooke's Place for Grieving Young People
Brooke's Place for Grieving Young People is a not-for-profit agency. We provide peer support groups for young people and college age (age 3-20+) who have experienced the death of a parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, cousin, sibling, friend or loved one. Program Night peer support groups meet twice a month, on Thursday evenings, for 75 minutes at St. Luke's United Methodist Church or on Wednesday evenings at Butler University.

Buddy

Description
Being a Buddy means providing assistance to children and their families on evenings of program night. Responsibilities include; being a host/hostess as families arrive, serving pizza, drinks, and cake, setting up the Lending Library, delivering supplies to the Facilitators' rooms, Putting materials from Program Night back into the storage room, cleaning up the Volcano Room, and General clean-up of dining area.

Committee and Office Support

Description
This position includes helping as a memorial service usher, helping with fundraisers, delivering brochure and resource materials to agencies, and participating in our Speaker's Bureau which provides qualified speakers for community organizations. Committees include our annual events such as the golf outing and fall banquet, as well as the boards of Development, Communication, Fundraising, and Personnel.

Facilitator

Description
Facilitate peer support groups for young people who are grieving the death of a loved one. Volunteers do not need previous bereavement experience-just a love for children and willingness to make a commitment of twice a month on Wednesday or Thursday from 5:30-9:30 p.m. for a least a year
Notes / Special Requirements
Volunteers need to attend all sessions of Brooke's Place facilitator training (22 hours total), able to honor a commitment to consistent attendance at bimonthly program nights for one year, and two personal interviews (pre-training and post-training).
