The hospice team provides medical, emotional, and spiritual support to individuals with terminal illnesses and their families. Hospice care may be delivered in the person's home or in a hospital, nursing home, assisted living center, or hospice facility.

Companion Volunteers

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

Description
Volunteers provide direct care to patients and their families in either a nursing home or home setting. These volunteers provide companionship and support to these patients and their families. This is a great opportunity for those individuals who love one on one interaction and need to complete a lot of volunteer hours.
Notes / Special Requirements
Must attend training in hospice philosophy, must pass a background check, annual TB test and drug screen.

Bereavement Volunteers

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

Description
Volunteers provide support to those who have recently lost a loved one. These volunteers would be responsible for sending out mailings and making phone calls. This is a great opportunity for those individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in the fields of social work, counseling, nursing, or any other related field.

Vigil Volunteers

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

Description
AseraCare Hospice is looking for a group of caring and compassionate volunteers to provide a comforting presence to those in the final stage of their disease.

Office Volunteers

Starts: March 1st, 2009

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

Description
AseraCare Hospice is looking for volunteers to help out in the office. Office Volunteers will perform a variety of clerical duties such as filing, putting packets together, answering phones, etc.
